More detail on this person: Lieutenant Colonel Robert Alfred Sibley, 54 OBITUARIES Daily Press (Newport News, VA) - Wednesday, June 21, 1989 WILLIAMSBURG - Retired Army Lt. Col. Robert Alfred Sibley, 54, died Thursday, June 15, in his home. A native of Springfield, La., Colonel Sibley was a Williamsburg resident since 1972. He received a bachelor of science degree in music from Texas Christian University. He also received a Masters in Edcuation from The College of William and Mary. Colonel Sibley retired from the Army in 1981 and was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam. He attended numerous military training schools and also served in Alaska and Ethiopia. He was the recipient of many commendations and medals such as the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medals, and Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Elizabeth Sibley; two daughters, Laura Diane Sibley and Mary Elizabeth Sibley; and one son, Robert Arthur Sibley, all of northern Virginia. A funeral and burial with military honors was held in Arlington National Cemetery. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to National Cancer Institute, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bldg. 31 Room 11-A-18, Bethesda, Md. 20892.
