More detail on this person: Mr Lawrence Wayne Southard, 70 Lawrence Wayne Southard News-Courier, The (Athens, AL) - Tuesday, January 14, 2014 _ The graveside service for Lawrence Wayne Southard, 70, of Elkmont will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at New Salem Cemetery with Robert Hall officiating. There will be no visitation. Mr. Southard died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. Wayne Southard was born Nov. 6, 1943, in Limestone County. He retired as a major after 28 years in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Anita Southard of Elkmont; sons, Chris Southard of Athens, Barry Craig and Chris Craig, both of Tanner, and Stephen Southard of Virginia; sisters, Juanita Tate of Nashville, Tenn., and Charlene Brannan of Montgomery; and five grandchildren.
