Southwick, 64, of Stafford County passed away Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at Bethesda Naval Hospital. Col. Southwick served as a pilot in the United States Marine Corps. He was also commanding officer of HT-18 in Pensacola, Fla., as well as director of the first Marine Corps War College. Currently a teacher at A. G. Wright Middle School in Stafford, he was honored as a Teacher of the Year. Survivors include his parents, Alton and Elizabeth Southwick of Centerville, Pa.; his wife, Karlyn Kehoe Southwick of Stafford; two sons, Zachary of Stafford and Kris and his wife, Alicia, of Herndon; two grandchildren, Clayton James and Emory Paige; one brother, Kris Robert Southwick of Pennsylvania; and one sister, Renee Elizabeth Southwick of Whitson, Maine. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Home, Stafford Chapel, 186 Shelton Shop Road, Stafford, Va. 22554. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 21, at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle. In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy may take the form of donations to either the Wounded Warrior Project, 7020 AC Skinner Parkway, Suite 100, Jacksonville, Fla. 32256, or the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Va. 23060
