More detail on this person: Temple, TX: A Memorial Service for James Robert Stein, 66 will be in Western, NY at a later date. Mr. Stein died December 22, 2012 at Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple, TX. He was born November 4, 1946 in Rochester, NY to Robert and Lois Stein. He grew up in Rochester, NY. Upon graduation from Eastridge H.S. in Rochester in 1964. He attended Clarkson College in Pottsdam, NY, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. In 1980 he earned his Professional Engineering License with the State of Texas. He volunteered and joined the U.S. Army in 1969 and served for 5 years. Achieving the rank of Captain. He served in Vietnam as a Chinook Helicopter Pilot and among his many honors he was the proud recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. Army Aviator Badge, Bronze Star Metal and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Air Medal. Upon an honor discharge. He worked for U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers/Central Texas area office in Fort Hood Directorate of Public Works as a Project Engineer. He retired in January, 2007 with 28 years of service. For which he was awarded the Dept. of the Army Commanders Award for Civil Service.

He married Janet M. Pena in 1972 in Niagara Falls, NY. They were happily married for 40 years. They enjoyed traveling together throughout the world. Especially visiting family in the U.S. and overseas. Mr. Stein was predeceased in death by his parents, Robert and Lois Stein; his mother-in-law, Margaretta Pena and his brother-in-law, Ramon Pena.

Survivors include his devoted spouse, Janet Margaretta Stein of Harker Heights, TX; his beloved daughter, Carolyn Stein of Killeen, TX; his brother, Thomas Stein of Penfield, NY; and his many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
