More detail on this person: Thomas G Stubbs What does one say about a friend like Thomas Stubbs? He was our friend for 27 years after our move to the Panhandle of Florida along with his wife Velma. We have had many happy moments doing many things together. My husband enjoyed fishing with him and we all enjoyed the fellowship of eating their "catch" together. They were happy times. We also enjoyed our fellowship together in our church. We, along with many others have lost a treasured friend. His service was held Thursday, May 26th at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Shelly Chandler officiating. Burial was at Bonifay Cemetery with full military honors and Sims Funeral Home Directing. Tom passed away on Sunday at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. after his 3rd open heart surgery. He served 22 years in the Marines and Army. He served in WW II, Korea and two terms in Vietnam. He retired in 1970 as a helicopter pilot and received many honors. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bonifay and an active member of the Gideons since 1972. In place of flowers, the family ask for donations to be made to the Gideons. He is survived by his wife Velma Jenkins Stubbs, sons, Jim Stubbs of Lucerne Valley, Calif., Mike Stubbs of Oklahoma City, and Keith Stubbs of Riverside, Calif.; dtrs., Debbie Harcus of De Leon Springs, Fla., Joyce Organ of Alma, Ark., and Susan Stubbs of Tallahassee, Fla; brother, William Stubbs of Minneapolis; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Tom's parents were Zella and Alma Stubbs.
