AIRPLANE CRASH AMONG FIRST FOR NEW
CATEGORY
Investigators are trying to find out what went
wrong when an Allegro 2000 light sport airplane
crashed in a North Carolina cow pasture Sunday,
killing the two people on board. The owner, Robert
Swanson, 62, was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam and
had some 40 years of flight experience, according
to "The (Raleigh) News & Observer." John Nesbit,
51, was a former TV anchor in Greensboro who had
always wanted to learn to fly.
The airplane is produced by the Czech Republic
firm Fantasy Air in either kit or ready-to-fly
form. Some 450 are flying in Europe. The accident
was among the first to involve a certified light
sport airplane.
