More detail on this person: Herbert Thorpe Sink, 67 PAID DEATH NOTICES Richmond Times-Dispatch (VA) - Sunday, August 27, 2000 SINK Col. (Ret.) Herbert Thorpe Sink, born in Lexington, N.C., February 28, 1933. He was a career officer in the U.S. Army for 27 years, Infantry, 11th Airborne Division, 82nd Airborne Division, 101st Airbo rne Division, Army Aviator and Flight Instructor. He served in Korea. In Vietnam, he commanded the 173rd Assault Helicopter Company, the Robinhoods, and was operations officer of the 11th Combat Aviation Battalion in Vietnam. He attended Command and General Staff College, Ft. Leavenworth, Ks., and The National War College, Ft. McNair, Va. He was a Senoir Assistant, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (International Security Affairs) at the Pentagon. Citations include, the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Defense Superior Service Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. After his military career, he served as CETA Administrator for Hanover, Chesterfield and Henrico Counties. He was a Director at Private Industry Council. He was Corporate Governmental Affairs Representative at Virginia Power for nine years. He was Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Henricus Foundation. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Parker Sink of Glen Allen; three children, Deborah A. Sink of Charleston, W.Va., Sharon S. Roberts of Centreville, Va., and Herbert T. Sink Jr. of Fredericksburg, Va.; and four grandchildren, Sarah P. McLusky, Benjamin T. McLusky, Shannon N. Roberts and Nicholas R. Roberts. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 27, 2000 at the Parham Chapel Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Rd., from 3 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 11, 2000 at Ft. Myer Chapel, Arlington National Cemetery. Interment with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests consideration of donations to a local chapter of the American Cancer Society or to the Henricus Foundation, P.O. Box 523, Chesterfield, Va. 23832.
