More detail on this person: Barry Dennis Tanner, beloved husband, father, brother, and teacher, was called home to be with his Lord on 5 August 2017. He fought a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer and passed peacefully at home. Barry was born on D-Day, 6 June 1944, in Lubbock TX. He grew up in and around Lansing; raised his family in Eaton Rapids; and eventually retired to Casa Grande, AZ. Barry served in combat in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot. He taught in the Eaton Rapids School District for more than 25 years. He served as a volunteer fireman and EMT, as a member of the Lyons Club, and as a Pastoral Partner at his church, and as a Red Cross Dove. Barry was a man of honor, integrity, and faith. He hoped at the end of his life he would be remembered for his service to his God and to his fellow man. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Claudia Jean Proctor Tanner, son Derrick Tanner (m. Misty Tanner), son Chad Tanner (Melissa Tanner); and daughter Annette Tanner. He was blessed with six grandchildren: Hailee Tanner, Julia Tanner, Talon Dwayne, Ariiana Montoya, Madalyn Tanner, and Casey Tanner. He is also survived by his three siblings Jerry Tanner (m. Holly Tanner), Pam Curry (m. Pat Curry), and Jacque Purdy (m. Wendyll Purdy). He leaves a large extended family and will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations be made in Barry's name to Desert Sky Baptist Church, 891 W. Kortsen Rd., Casa Grande, AZ 85122.
