More detail on this person: F. Dean Thornburg LAKE WALES -- Mr. F. Dean Thornburg of Lake Wales died of heart failure Tuesday (Sept. 24, 2002) at Lake Wales Medical Center. He was 68.Born in Adrian, Mich., on April 13, 1934, he came to Lake Wales from Indiana in 1950. He retired from the Army, a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a helicopter pilot, having participated in more than 25 missions, and was shot down three times. He received the Purple Heart, Defense Meritorious Service medal and the Air Medal Citation. He was a member of the VFW of Lake Wales and the Lake Wales Moose Lodge.He was a former member of Lake Wales Church of Christ.Mr. Thornburg is survived by his wife, Noy Thornburg; daughters, Carmen Fletcher, Tamatha Thornburg, Kanitta Thornburg, all of Lake Wales; brothers, Tom Thornburg, Bartow, Billy T. Young, New Paris, Ind.; sister, Carol Grimes, Lake Wales; three grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at Marion Nelson Funeral Home of Lake Wales. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lake Wales Cemetery
