More detail on this person: Leon Otto ("Bud") Tieman On December 27, 2009 at 12:50 a.m., Leon Otto ("Bud") Tieman, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother drew his last breath at age 82. He passed peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family, and succumbing to cancer he had beaten two years earlier. He was preceded in death two years ago by his adoring wife of 60 years, Donnie Mae (Porter) Tieman, and three years previously by daughter Debbie Dumman. Born on November 15, 1927, in Keokuk, Iowa and raised across the Mississippi River in the little town of Warsaw, Ill., Bud was a career army pilot, serving in the US Army from 1946 until retirement 22 years later in 1968, at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He and wife Donnie traveled abroad while in the service, having been stationed on Guam, Okinawa Japan, Izmir Turkey, and all across the United States, having eight children along the way. Bud also did tours in Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from the Army the family lived for a time in Novato, Calif., moving to Gold Hill, Ore. in 1976, with a final move to Central Point, Ore. in 1990. In their retirement Bud and Donnie enjoyed traveling in their motorhome across the United States, seeing family and making friends along the way. Bud (Dad, Grandpa, Bubba) will be desperately missed by so many, but we all know he is finally free of pain and is now with the love of his life, wife Donnie. He is survived by his children; Linda (Rod) Charny of Bend, Ore., Teresa (Reed) Holbrook of Central Point, Ore., Kathy (Richard) Fisher of Pemberton N.J., Karen (Larry) Willis of Grants Pass, Ore., Kevin (Pattie) Tieman of Buford, Ga., Lori (Dan) Richardson of Eagle Point, Ore., and David (Nichelle) Tieman of Graham, Wash., plus 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren (with one more on the way). Services will be held at the VA National Cemetery in Eagle Point, Ore. on 12/31/09 at 1:00 p.m. with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in his name to Asante Hospice at 2960 Doctors Park Drive, Medford, Oregon 97504.
