Tipton, Jr. battled bravely and succumbed peacefully on June 12, 1995 at the age of 65 after struggling with emphysema. He was born February 21, 1930 in Salt Lake City to Jay Young and Marie Duncan Tipton. Married Naomi Rose Green on December 29, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Graduated from East High School. He was a career Army officer achieving Master Aviator status as a pilot, having served in Korea and Vietnam. He was highly decorated and received both a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Survived by his wife; daughter, Carla J. Hitz and her husband, Bob and their children, Justin, Sean and Bobby; stepdaughters, Dicksie McDonald and her husband, Jack and their children, Mindy, Jenny and Josh; Sandra Evans and her daughter, Amy; sister, Marilyn Allen and a cousin, Art Olsen, all of Salt Lake City, Utah. In honor of his wishes a graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 14, 1995 in the Elysian Burial Gardens, 4580 South 1075 East, Salt Lake City. Funeral directors Wasatch Lawn Mortuary.
