More detail on this person: JAMES CHARLES TAYLOR Reserve Officer James Taylor and Lieutenant Robert Cormier were killed in a helicopter accident. The officers were looking for landing spots for the upcoming Republican Convention when the helicopter struck a communications tower 450 feet in the air. Both officers were killed instantly. Reserve Officer Taylor was a member of the Texas National Guard and had served with the Dallas Police Department for 14 and a half years and was survived by his wife and two sons. Dallas, Texas Police Department Reserve Officer who was killed in the line of duty with Lt. Robert L. Cormier. He was piloting a Dallas Police Department helicopter searching for potential landing sites for the 1984 Republican National Convention. The helipcopter stuck support cables for a communications tower and crashed to the ground. Chuck Taylor was the Dallas Police Department's first helicopter pilot in 1969 and he was a Colonel in the Texas Army National Guard, 149th Aviation Battalion. He was married with two sons.
