More detail on this person: Colonel John Andrew Todd, 70 Col. John A. Todd, 70, decorated in two wars Washington Times, The (DC) - Monday, August 15, 1994 Retired Army Col. John Andrew Todd, 70, a highly decorated combat veteran and general staff officer, died of cancer Aug. 6 at his home in Springfield. Col. Todd enlisted in the Army in 1945 and during his 32-year career was a company commander in Korea and served three tours in Vietnam as battalion and group commander. Born in the Panama Canal Zone, Col. Todd had lived in the Washington area since 1959. A graduate of the University of Maryland, he also attended the Command and General Staff College and the Army War College. In the Pentagon, Col. Todd served in the Office of the Chief of Research and Development as executive officer to the assistant secretary of the Army and as assistant to the undersecretary of the Army. After his retirement from the military in 1977, he worked for 10 years as the Washington representative for Link Corp., a flight simulation company, and as an aviation consultant to military and commercial organizations. His decorations include the the Combat Infantry Badge, the Army Distinguished Service Medal and the Air Medal with 27 Oak Leaf Clusters. Col. Todd was a member of the American Helicopter Society, the Association of the U.S. Army and the Army Aviation Association of America. He is survived by his wife, Elfrieda Z. Todd; two sons, Gerald M. Todd of Europe and Maj. William E. Todd of Colorado Springs; and two grandchildren. Services were held at the Old Chapel at Fort Myer, with burial at Arlington National Cemetery.
