More detail on this person: Richard L. Von Hatten, 73, died Friday, January 6, 2023 at home in Davenport, FL, surrounded by his wife, family, and friends. Preceded in death by his mother and father, The son of Richard J. Von Hatten and Eileen Dehnicke Von Hatten was born on August 16, 1949, in Elmhurst, Illinois. Richard L. Von Hatten served honorably as an Army helicopter pilot and Warrant Officer in Vietnam in the 101st Airborne. He returned to Bensenville, Illinois, his hometown, after the war and was married on February 22, 1975, to L. Michelle Stokes, daughter of Oliver Stokes and Jonelle Jackson Stokes in Chicago, Illinois. On that date, an almost 48-year love affair began, and they started their lives of adventure together. Richard is survived by his wife Michelle, daughter Jonelle (Sean) Bailey, and son Tarl (Emily Philips) Von Hatten. Five grandchildren, Joshua & Olivia Bailey, Jameson & Zygfryd Von Hatten, and Johanna Phillips. Several family members and loved ones near and far, including his sister Karen Jablecki, his cousins Diana (David) Znavor and Donna (Darren) Eskridge, Brother- in-law David Stokes, sister-in-law Dannyae Cozzens, nephews John (Andreia), Stephen (Jennifer), Bill Cozzens, Brian, and Patrick Schoop, loved ones Shane (Lisa) Hornbeck, Alan Harter, and Zyg (Megan) Cholewa.
