More detail on this person: Rufus "Russ" Webb, Jr. Rufus Webb, Jr., 71, of 919 Madison Road, Eatonton, Ga. died Tuesday, June 14, 2005 in Baldwin County. Memorial services were held at Eatonton Presbyterian Church on Friday, June 17 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Larry Kennon officiating. The Whitesburg, Ky, Letcher County native was born on February 14, 1934 to Rufus Webb, Sr. and Rose Brown. He was married to Alva Downey Webb. He received the Purple Heart Medal, the Navy Occupation Service Medal, the United Nations Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation. Mr. Webb also served in Vietnam on active duty for more than three years and was awarded the AFEXPM, the Air Medal with 8 Oak Leaf Cluster, 2 O/S Bars and he was also an Expert (Pistol). Mr. Webb was also wounded in Korea. He served as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He was a retired airline pilot for Eastern Airlines for 22 years, a member of the Eatonton Presbyterian Church, VFW, QB's, and the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association. Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Society or to the Eatonton Presbyterian Church. Survivors include: spouse, Alva Webb of Eatonton, daughter, Dawn Sharp of Eatonton, son, Darrel Webb of Charlotte, N.C. and Rufus Webb, III of Florida, brothers, Gene Novak and Danny Cowan both of Maryland and sister Elaine Stocker and Susie McCann both of Maryland, and eight grandchildren. Vining Ivy Hill Chapel in Eatonton was in charge of final arrangements.
