More detail on this person: After seminary,
Eric did a residency at the Episcopal Church in
Opelousas, LA in 1984. We met him there and
knew him for about a year. He also attended the
Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association reunions and
we talked to him at several of the reunions. As
far as I know, Eric had MS (multiple sclerosis) He

The Rev. Eric B. Williams, 49, died in Baton
Rouge, LA, on June 15 (2002) after a long illness.
Ordained by Bishop Henton in 1984, he served
parishes in Abbeville and Opelousas, Louisiana,
before becoming rector of St. Columb's Church in
Ridgeland (Jackson), Mississippi in 1993. In 1998
he became the fourth rector of St. Luke's, Baton
Rouge, where he served until his retirement due to
disability in 2000.
He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of the
Vietnam War and a helicopter pilot. He was
awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross,
Distinguished Flying Cross with oak leaf cluster,
the Army Commendation Medal with the V device,
Bronze Star, the Purple Heart three times, and the
Honor Medal of the Republic of South Vietnam. He
is survived by his wife, Sally Siakel; mother Dot
K. Williams; three daughters, Dana, Tess, and
Chloe Williams; and three brothers, Rickie,
Johnny, and Scott Williams. (Source: Seabury
