More detail on this person: Charles A. Weitz was born Nov 17, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA. A graduate of Duquesne University, he was a United States Marine Corp Captain and pilot who went on to fly helicopters for Air America. Charlie spent more than 30 years in the aviation industry, 25 years in Singapore and southeast Asia, and 10 years commuting to Kazakhstan from FL before retiring in 2002. Weitz led a life of legend and plenty of people confirm his numerous stories. Shot down by enemy fire in Laos, he made it out alive. He rescued 11 or 12 military airmen in the 60's-70's from the jungles of Laos and Vietnam. He is survived by his wife Michiko, daughter Kristina and son-in-law William B. Mermelstein in CA, two grandchildren-Zackary and Skylar, sister Judy Weitz and brother-in-law Ed Wagner in PA. We will surely miss this larger than life good man. The family suggests memorial donations be made to: Golden Heart Ranch, 703 Pier Ave, Suite B 194, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254. www.goldenheartranch.org/donate
