Additional information about this casualty:
As my memory serves me: Mr. Stuck was on Stand-down, for outprocessing, with
less than ten days until DEROSing back to CONUS. He was serving an extension
of his tour. He had volunteered that morning to fly on a local area
gun-support mission. The light fireteam returned to Soc Trang to rearm and
refuel. As it was near lunch and they were going to return to the AO , they
shut down just off the active. To allow clearance for incoming fixed-wing
they parked in close trail rather than at an angle. Larry exited the lead AC
and was standing there waiting on the other crew members to go for chow. A
round had remained (jammed) in one of the miniguns on the trail aircraft. It
discharged striking Mr. Stuck. He died instantly.
