Accident Summary:

The crash occurred two miles west of the Oasis, RVN, at about 1915 hours, on 12 August 1968. The aircraft struck a tree while flying low level in marginal weather. Immediately upon impact with the tree, the rotor head separated from the aircraft and at the same time the remainder of the aircraft plunged to the ground approximately 20 feet in front of the tree, and began to roll for the next 125 feet, scattering wreckage as it rolled. WO Casey was killed immediately after impact with the ground.
