Accident Summary:

This aircraft departed LZ Nancy, RVN at 0800 hours. Its planned destination was Phu Bai, RVN, about 20 miles to the south. It is unknown what was the purpose of the stop at Quang Tri Marine Air Station, 15 miles to the north. At that station a passenger boarded the aircraft. He stated that they were going to LZ Sharon. A few minutes after take off, at an altitude of about 300 feet, the aircraft began to lose parts from its tail section, decelerated sharply, began to spin violently, and struck the ground inverted with only slight forward speed.
