Accident Summary:

 AIRCRAFT ^144^ HAD CALLED OFF PHUOC VINH ENROUTE TO PHY LOI AT APPROXIMATELY 1645 HOURS ON 12 FEBRUARY 1970. THIS WAS THE LAST KNOWN RADIO CONTACT WITH 144. AT APPROXIMATELY 1715 HOURS, 12 FEBRUARY 1970, THE OPERATIONS OFFICER OF THE 2D BRIGADE AVIATION PLATOON RECEIVED A CALL NOTIFYING HIM THAT ONE OF HIS AIRCRAFT HAD CRASHED ALONG A ROAD APPROXIMATELY TEN MILES NORTH OF PHU LOI, RVN. PERSONNEL FROM THE AVIATION PLATOON SCRAMBLED AND FLEW TO THE SCENE OF THE CRASH. THEY CONFIRMED THE FACT THAT THE AIRCRAFT INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT WAS, IN FACT, ASSIGNED TO THEIR UNIT. BY THE TIME THEY REACHED THE WRECKAGE THE THREE CREWMEMBERS HAD BEEN REMOVED FROM THE WRECKAGE. THE AIRCRAFT WAS TOTALLY CONSUMED BY FIRE.\\
