Accident Summary:

 ON 25 MAY 1970, THE PILOT OF OH-6A, SN: 68-17201, WAS ASSIGNED THE MISSION OF TRANSPORTING A PASSENGER FROM TAY NINH TO PNUOC VINH. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AT THE PASSENGER PICK-UP POINT (PINE RIDGE PAD) PHUOC VINH, RVN, AT APPROXIMATELY 1110 HOURS. THE PASSENGER GOT OFF THE AIRCRAFT AT THE PICK-UP POINT, THE PILOT CALLED FOR CLEARANCE TO TAKE OFF. AT THIS TIME THE TOWER ASKED THE PILOT IF HE COULD TAKE A COUPLE OF PASSENGERS TO TAY NINH. THE PILOT SAID HE COULD AND WOULD WAIT FOR THE PASSENGERS TO COME OUT FROM THE PASSENGER TERMINAL. THE TRAFFIC WAS LANDING AND DEPARTING 270, AIRCRAFT 201 WAS SITTING ON THE PICK-UP PAD FACING EAST (90) WITH THE TAIL OF THE AIRCRAFT PARELLEL TO THE TOWER, AND THE TOWER LOCATED AT THE 50' CLOCK POSITION. ONE PASSENGER CAME OUT AND ASKED THE PILOT IF HE WAS GOING TO TAY NINH, THE PILOT SAID YES AND THE PASSENGER BOARDED THE AIRCRAFT. THE PILOT WAS MOTIONING FOR THE OTHER PASSENGER TO COME TO THE FRONT OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE FIRST PASSENGER GOT OUT OF THE AIRCRAFT AND STARTED FOR THE TOWER. THE OTHER PASSENGER WALKING TOWARD THE AIRCRAFT WAS CARRYING A LARGE BOX. HE WAS APPROACHING THE AIRCRAFT FROM THE RIGHT REAR WHEN HE STUMBLED, DROPPED THE BOX, FELL UNDER THE TAIL BOOM AND WAS DECAPITATED BY THE TAIL ROTOR BLADES.\\
