Accident Summary:
THE SEQUENCE OF EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE ACCIDENT WERE THAT CW2 HILL AND WO BRADLEY RECEIVED A CALL FROM DUST OFF CONTROL AT QUANG TRI THAT THEIR SISTER SHIP WAS MISSING IN MARGINAL WEATHER. IN BAD WEATHER, THE SEARCH AND RESCUE PATTERN IN THE AREA IS GENERALLY ALONG QL1. AT APPROXIMATELY 22:00 HOURS ANOTHER DUST OFF SHIP, ALSO IN SEARCH AND RESCUE OF CW2 HILL'S SISTER SHIP, REPORTED THAT HE SAW CW2 HILL'S SHIP HEADING SOUTH IN THE VICINITY OF LZ NANCY WITH IT'S LANDING, SEARCH, AND POSITION LIGHTS ON. QUANG TRI TOWER OPERATIONS REPORTS THAT AT 22:20 HOURS CW2 REPORTED HIS POSITION WAS BEING ON QL 1 BETWEEN LZ NANCY AND CAMP EVANS. THIS WAS THE LAST KNOWN RADIO CONTACT WITH CW2 HILL'S AIRCRAFT. AT APPROXIMATELY 22:45 A SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATION WAS BEGUN FOR THE CREW OF AC 021. AT APPROXIMATELY 06:00 THE NEXT MORNING, SEARCH AND RESCUE AIRCRAFT FOUND THE WRECKAGE OF CW2 HILL'S SHIP AND THE REMAINS OF ITS CREW. THE TIME OF THE AIRCRAFT CRASH IS UNKNOWN, BUT ITS FUEL EXHAUSTION TIME WAS CALCULATED AT BETWEEN 23:00 HOURS AND 23:15 HOURS.\\
