Accident Summary:

 AT 0650, 2 NOVEMBER 1970, AIRCRAFT UH-1C, SN 66-15219, WITH THE ABOVE CREW TOOK OFF FROM RACH GIA SHORT STRIP HEADING FOR THE RACH SOI AIRFIELD TO REFUEL. AFTER MAKING A RIGHT TURN OUT OF TRAFFIC AND LEVELLING OFF AT 500 FEET THE MAIN ROTOR SYSTEM SEPARATED FROM THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT THEN NOSED OVER AND CRASHED INTO THE GROUND EXPLODING ON IMPACT. THE TRAIL GUNSHIP WHICH WAS FOLLOWING BEHIND AT THE TIME, CIRCLED THE AREA LOOKING FOR ANY POSSIBLE SURVIVORS. THE AIRCRAFT WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED AND THE CREW LOST.\\
