War Story:
This happened a month after I left the troop the 1st time. From what I've been told they were loading a scout ship for the days missions. You've seen/heard the stories. C-4 and concussion grenade bombs, throw in a few frags, mini-gun and 60 ammo, and a full fuel cell and the pin comes out of a grenade. There were 2 other scouts with them, John Hazelwood who had just been sent to get something from the hootch and Joe Toderick who was on the other side of the 3/4 T line truck when the ship blew. Hazelwood was new to the troop and only knew Porter's name for sure. Joe said he was also new and that he was about 30 feet away, if that. from Dave Fesmire, Jan 97.
