Description: The 121st AVN reported after completing two lifts with six other 121st aircraft near Ca Mau, three helicopters were assigned the task of carrying a 105mm howitzer and ammunition to Cai Nouc. Two trips were made into the area and the mission seemed uneventful until the aircraft approached Ca Mau on low final. A sudden burst of ground fire downed one of the aircraft within sight of the landing strip. The crew escaped injury, but the helicopter was destroyed.
