unit history information
for 121 AVN

For date 640131

121 AVN was a US Army unit
Primary service involved, US Army
Ba Zuyen Province, South Vietnam
Location, Soc Trang
Description: The 121st AVN reported that during January they development an improved doormount for machine guns carried by their helicopters on all missions. The new mount permitted gunners to place fire directly beneath the aircraft, an area that had been particularly vunerable previously. Their maintenance crews continued to keep a maximum number of aircraft flyable, despite an average of only one hour of daylight available for maintenance activities. Extensive work on aircraft needed for missions on the following day was accomplished at least in part, if not in full, during darkness.
