Operation HOP TAP

Description: Operation HOP TAC begins in an effort to push SVN control outward from Saigon until the surrounding six provinces (Gia Dinh, Bien Hoa, Binh Duong, Hau Nghia, Lorg An, and Phuoc Tuy) are firmly under control. Clearing forces involve the ARVN 5th Division and the Airborne and Marine Brigades. Two regiments of the ARVN 25th Division provide local security along with Regional and Popular Forces, National Police and hamlet militia. Although the operation continues into mid-1965, true pacification of the area is not attained.
