Description: The A Company, 1st Aviation Battalion unit history states their aviators returned to Vung Tau from Ban Me Thuot to pick up their aircraft and crewchiefs. They had 24 UH-1Ds. Their vehicles and equipment were due to be shipped to Nha Trang by LST and then moved overland to Ban Me Thuot. The first equipment, four conex containers, arrived on 10 May with the first ten vehicles on 15 May. By 26 May all the units equipment had arrived except two 2 1/2 ton trucks and several trailers. Vehicles were moved in three groups by Vietnamese drivers. The remainder of May was spent preparing the unit for an operational readiness date of 1 June. Weapons kits were installed on nine UH-1B's (previously exchanged for 8 UH-1D's) and protective armament kits were installed on 16 UH-1D's.
