Description: The NVA besieged the Duc Co SF Camp for 48 days and the SF A-215 Det suffered heavy losses. When the 8 ARVN infantry, ranger, and paratrooper battalions fought their way through the surrounding enemy force and entered the camp on 17 August, they were supported by two battalions from the 173rd Abn Bde. This marked the first time that a large American reaction force had been earmarked to help a CIDG camp.
