for 173 ABN
From date 650810 to 650817
173 ABN was a US Army unit
Primary service involved, US Army
Pleiku Province, II Corps, South Vietnam
Location, Duc Co
Description: The Duc Co SF camp had been under direct attack by the NVA for over two months. An ARVN Regt moved over QL 19 and became engaged with the NVA before it could reach Duc Do. The 173d Abn was moved by C-130s and C-123s from Bien Hoa to act as a reserve and to secure the Thanh Binh Pass. This released the entire ARVN force to break the seige condition. The 173d conducted a total of 43 company-sized, 116 platoon-sized and 22 squad-sized patrols during this operation. After the ARVN force had returned through the pass, the 173d moved to Pleiku.
