Location, east of An Khe
Description: The battalion history states they flew their first combat mission. Elements of the 1st Bde, 101st ABN had become heavily engaged with a VC force to the east of An Khe and requested fire support. A platoon from Battery C, lead by CPT Ronald C. Perry, executed the fire mission, accompained by LTC Mahone, flying his command aircraft. A total of 315 rockets were delivered "on target" and effectively reduced enemy pressure on the friendly force. An estimated 64 VC were killed by the strike.
