Description: The battalion history states that on this night MAJ Morris J. Brady, the battalion XO, made the first flight of the experimental "light ship." The "light ship" was a UH-1B mounted wiith a cluster of seven USAF troop carrier aircraft landing lights. Accompanied by another UH-1B, armed with the XM-6 subsyste, the "light ship" flew a patrol course around the perimeter of the base camp. This innovation was evidently unwelcomed by the VC who began firing onthe aircraft. No damage or casualties were sustained and the countermeasure was continued nightly thereafter.
