A/2/20 ARA was a US Army unit
Primary service involved, US Army
Binh Dinh Province, II Corps, South Vietnam
Location, An Khe
Description: The battalion history states that several weeks after the first flight of the "light ship" on 18 Sep, a VC platoon was reported approaching the base camp from the north on a very dark night. The "light ship" piloted by CPT Frederick S. Beck of Battery A, was dispatched to the area accompanied by an armed ship piloted by CPT William Bruce Wilder, also of Battery A. CPT Beck was successful in placing the lights directly on the surprised VC who were clearly visible and started running in various directions to evade. CPT Wilder made two rocket firing passes on the enemy. A later inspection of the area revealed three VC dead and indications that others had been wounded or killed and removed by their fellows.
