Location, LZ BETTY
Description: The 1/9th Cav established an NDP at LZ BETTY (reported in the Columbus newsletter as LZ MARY, named after the wife of the reporter), named for the wife of MAJ Zon, the ground unit commander. The Blues from A, B, and C Troop plus a Montagnard platoon were the force at LZ BETTY. The main part of the Squadron laagered at Duc Co and the Squadron CP was at a location nearly LZ BETTY. The Montagnard platoon and the C Troop Blues set up ambushes some distance from LZ BETTY. A large NVA unit moved into the C Troop ambush and it was sprung. //Get the rest of the narrative from the Bullwhip Squadron history//
