Description: The battalion history states that (the full narrative is not available) CPT Charles D. Hooks, battery operations officer, and SFC Francis L. McGill, the operations sergeant operated the radio, directing the rockets ships fire against the VC, despite both being wounded. The ACM, with V, for valerous action was later awarded to both. The ARA helicopter made repeated attacks against the hostile mortar and automatic weapons positions. After their ammunition was expended the helicopters landed and evacuated wounded. They then rearmed and returned to the battle. Under such a heavy counterattack, the VC finally withdrew.
