Description: The first significant battle for the 1st Infantry Division was fought on Highway 13 when A/2/2nd Inf Bn, A/1/4th Cav, and C/2/33rd Arty were attacked in their NDP at 0725 while supporting a road runner operation as part of BUSHMASTER. In all three assaults were launched at the perimeter. Once the VC mortar and recoilless rifle fire positions were identified, airstrikes and arty were applied. The VC left 198 bodies in the area.
