Quang Ngai Province, I Corps, South Vietnam
Description: As part of the preparation for DOUBLE EAGLE, MAG-36 reported at 0700 twenty two UH-34D's from HMM-261 and HMM-364 lifted 196 troops of Golf 2/4 and 118 troops of the 2nd ARVN Division from Quang Ngai Airfield into an unsecure zone at BS 834422. VMO-6 UH-1E aircraft controlled the LZ prep by Oxwood A-4 aircraft and Naval Gunfire prep. The operation was intended to look like a normal search and clear type operation, however its primary purpose was to analyze the area, for its subsequent use as a Beach Support Area for the operation. The troops were retracted at 1400 to Quang Ngai and Chu Lai.
