VMO-6 was a US Marine Corps unit

Operation DOUBLE EAGLE I
South Vietnam
Description: Marine UH-34s drew heavy machine gun fire from a burning village in the Lo Bo Valley while picking up an infantry company. VMO-6 provided escort. Their CO, LTC Zitnik, was the flight leader. Unable to get jets to strike the target, he started a rocket attack and was shot down. His wingman, 1LT William L. Buchanan, landed and extracted the crew from the downed UH-1E. Later an infantry and maintenance team was inserted and the next day a USAF CH-3C retrieved the UH-1E.
