Operation BLACK HORSE

Description: During operation BLACK HORSE, the 2d Bde, 1st Cav inserted three battalions with helicopters. At 0843 the 2/5 Cav lifted from LZ DUCK, air assaulted obj BOB E (BR975914), and closed at 1210. At 0910 the 2/8 Cav air assaulted obj JOHN N (BR985863) with two companies and at 1000 obj JOHN S (BR990847) with one company. At 1345 one company was picked up and assaulted LZ BULLS EYE (BR961869). The rest of the battalion was close on BULLS EYE that night. At 0847 the 1/8 Cav assaulted obj 100 (BR940850) and LZ KEN (BR905887) with one company each. A/1/9 Cav screened the entire area and conducted recon by fire in specific areas. At 1152 they inserted their infantry platoon into LZ COLT (BR947933). At 1605, a line company was inserted and the A/1/9 platoon extracted.
