1 BDE 101 ABN was a US Army unit
South Vietnam
Description: Elements of the 1st Bde, 101st Abn Div had reinforced the artillery position at Dak Pha only the day before the NVA 24th Regt attacked. Dak Pha was west of Tou Morong with was 12Ks northeast of Dak To. This attacked signaled the beginning of a period of heavy contact for the 1st Bde. After a seven hour battle, the NVA withdrew leaving 85 dead including 13 inside the wire. During the battle the Americans lost and recaptured a howitzer twice.
