Operation DECKHOUSE I
Phu Yen Province, South Vietnam
Description: As a result of the May, 1966 meetings between MACV, the Navy and Marine commands a broader type of amphibious operations were designed for the SLF. The first of the new series, operation DECKHOUSE I, was conducted by the SLF in Phu Yen Province in II Corps in support of the 1st Cavalry Division operation NATHAN HALE. The SLF units encountered only scattered resistance but NATHAN HALE involved nine battalions that claimed over 400 enemy killed.
