Description: A two company Marine patrol was ambushed by the NVA and surrounded for over two days. They hacked out a crude landing zone, the MAG-16 helicopters resupplied and supported them. Just before two more companies arrived to reinforce the patrol, the NVA withdrew. This action was part of operation PRAIRIE. The Marines suffered nine KIA and claimed 170 NVA killed.
