Operation ATTLEBORO
South Vietnam
Description: As part of ATTLEBORO, by now the 70th, 271st and 272d VC Regt and the 101st NVA Regt were in action. The 196th Inf Brigade CP was plastered by mortar fire. The 1/27th, 25th Inf Div sustained six massed VC frontal assaults. Help was needed and the 1st Inf Div dispatched a battalion and then a reinforced brigade. The 1st Inf Div moved all night and managed to assemble its HQ near Dau Tieng. It took over direction of the battle.
