Description: The eastern area of this offensive was aimed at clearing the area southeast of the DMZ in preparation for the construction of the Strong Point Obstacle System - The McNamara Line. More than 10,000 civilians from the villages was relocated to the Cam Lo refugee area. This was especially the case around Con Thien. HICKORY was the first major Marine incursion into the DMZ.
