Location, Duc Co
Description: In the last major battle of FRANCIS MARION, the 3/8th Inf, 4th Inf Div had a platoon separated from it company attacked by a battalion from the 32d NVA Regt. The shattered Americans hastily set up extra claymores which was detonated in the face of the NVA attack. Twice the NVA charged their lines. Twelve USAF jet strikes were used which not only demolished the attacking NVA but also annihilated the nearby reserve battalion.
