Description: The exact date for this event is not known. C/7/17 Cav reported that after their command group returned from Chu Lai, the Troop participated in combat operations with 2/1th Cav, 4th Inf Div. The 2/1st Cav was a ground Cav unit with the mission of screening and securing AOs on QL19 between Pleiku and Qui Nhon. In this operation WO Pearcy was shot down while flying an OH-6A on a screening mission for the 2/1 Cav. The aircraft crashed in 60 foot trees with no injury to personnel. The Blues were inserted in an LZ selected by the Scouts and proceeded to secure the downed aircraft. The aircraft was extracted and the Blues began to sweep the area with negative contact.
