Description: The following is an edited version of an article titled "Munitions Cache Destroyed by 4th Division Cavalrymen" dated 20 Jan 1968.
Cavalrymen from the D/1/10th Cav, 4th Inf Div recently located a large munitions cache near Plei Me. The light scout helicopter section of the troop spotted holes under some dense brush while on a reconnaissance mission. MAJ Lloyd Kendrick, the troop commander who was accompanying the recon patrol, moved in and hovered over the holes while MAJ Thomas White, squadron S-3 officer, was lowered to the ground for a detailed look. White uncovered eight mines, eight cases of TNT, 4,000 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, twenty-five 82mm rockets, 15 rocket rounds and 30 fuses. The troop's Aero-Rifle Platoon was flown in to search and secure the area while an ordnance disposal team blew up the cache.
