Description: The VC 145th and 186th Bns attacked at 1 a.m. They quickly entered Dalat and took the central marketplace. Two armored cars, two RF Cos, engineering cadets and a helicopter gunship repelled the VC who then retreated to fortified positions in the Pasteur Institute. The 23d ARVN Ranger Bn arrived on 5 Feb and combat was renewed. A strike force co from the SF A-233 Det also reinforced. A week later the 11th ARVN Ranger Bn arrived and Dalat was finally declared secure on 11 Feb.
