Description: During the period 8 -14 Feb, the 7/17 Cav Squadron supported operation MACARTHUR by working in AO SPAATZ near Kontum city and northwest of Pleiku city. The Squadron continued to support the 1/22 Inf operation near Kontum city by conducting aerial reconnaissance missions in zones. Delta Troop was employed to secure the airfield at Kontum city. In AO SPAATZ, in support of the 1st Bde, 4th Inf Div, the Squadron conducted recon in zone picking up small enemy elements throughout the area. While in direct support of the 2d Bde, 4th Ind Div northwest of Pleiku city, the Squadron found numerous trail systems and bunker complexes indicating enemy movement from west to east in the vicinity of Plei Mrong. The Squadron accounted for 14 NVA/VC KIA during this period.
